At the second hut, Jeff and his partner/translator,
Eledad, visited with a young man, his wife and three young children. They
shared the gospel with them and invited them to the crusade. About the time
they were finishing, a Tropical rain, with a capital "T" set in and
everyone ran into the hut, where they spent the next hour or so. They
answered many questions about Christianity and the Presbyterian church.
Then Eledad gave his testimony. Afterwards, Jeff gave his testimony.
Everyone then stared at each other for a few minutes. Then Jeff
told the parable of the sower. Then everyone stared a each other for a
few more minutes. Then the man of the house gave Jeff and Eledad a
presentation on growing rice. This prompted Jeff to give a presentation
on growing tomatoes, even though they probably already know all about growing
tomatoes. Eventually the rained ceased and Jeff and Eledad thanked their
hosts and departed for the next hut.
In 2006, Fred was Malone Sams' translator. In 2007
and 2008, Fred translated for Robin and Elizabeth. Shorty after that, he
was riding his bike and was seriously injured when a truck hit him. Robin
and Jeff saw him at Terinyi Church in 2009 and Fred could not talk or walk. God
has answered our prayers. Today, Fred walked with Robin and translated
for her. He still has a long way to go; he needs professional and modern
rehabilitation. Like others on the trail, Fred and Robin spent over an
hour in Agnes' hut because of the rain. They also visited with 2 wives
whose husband (the same husband) didn't want them to go to the crusade.
The 2 wives said that they were believers but said that the devil lived
in one of their huts and had a "hand hold on the husband."
Robin and Fred prayed for them and their husband and encouraged them to
continue to pray for their husband.
